Join us on Saturday, February 27 as we celebrate Engineers Week with enhanced programming that highlight how engineers and scientists can make a difference.
Step into an engineer’s shoes and spend the day building, testing and creating! Take part in various challenges and activities while safely exploring museum exhibitions, such as tinkering in our Design Lab: Engineering workshop, discovering groundbreaking scientific innovations in Power of Science and exploring aerodynamic principles in a special mini drone course.
Guests can also participate in a scavenger hunt throughout our campus as they follow the engineering design process and solve clues. All those who successfully complete the scavenger hunt can pick up a complimentary Frost Science badge prize at the Science Store!
Throughout the day you'll have the opportunity to:*
????Discover the design process of imagining, planning, creating, building and testing in our Design Lab: Engineering workshop.
????Test different catapult designs to learn about the role physics plays in engineering these ancient machines and see if you can conquer three different challenges.
????Race against a friend, family member or even just your own best time in this introductory obstacle course for flying mini drones. All skill levels are welcome.
✈️Discover revolutionary technology towards the future of flight with the Center for Green Aviation from the University of Miami.
????Join the Engineering Alloys and Advanced Manufacturing Lab from the University of Miami as they highlight the importance of materials engineering for the future of aerospace and biomedical research, including the role of 3D printing.
????Explore the illuminating engineering behind circuitry by learning the basics of electricity.
Normal admission rates apply. Innovative Engineering programming is free with paid museum admission. Special programming will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
