SW 1 Street Bridge Replacement Project Update

 

·     Crews are preparing for a special 24-hour operation, which begins Monday, April 5 to perform bridge counterweight work.

 

·     Stormwater drainage work is tentatively scheduled to take place on the east side of the Miami River beginning Sunday night, April 4 through next week.

 

·     In order to continue constructing the bridge leaves, channel restrictions will be needed along the Miami River at SW 1 Street.

What to Expect During Special Operation:

 

·     A partial channel restriction is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 5 at 6 a.m. and will be in place until Tuesday, April 6 at 6 a.m.

 

·     64 feet of the 150-foot-wide federal navigable channel will remain open, and any boat which may safely pass will be allowed to do so with the exception of vessels under tow.

 

·     Intermittent noise is expected to occur during this special operation.

 

Ongoing Daytime Miami River Restrictions:

 

·     A partial channel restriction can be in place daily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

 

·     64 feet of the 150-foot-wide federal navigable channel will remain open, and any boat which may safely pass will be allowed to do so with the exception of vessels under tow.

 

·     During these daily restrictions, one bascule leaf will be placed in the down position.

 

·     A bridge opening can be coordinated with a 1-hour advance notice from the vessel under tow in order to safely have everyone and everything off the bascule leaf.  

 

Ongoing Nighttime Miami River Restrictions:

 

·     A partial channel restriction can be in place nightly from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.

 

·     64 feet of the 150-foot-wide federal navigable channel will remain open, and any boat which may safely pass will be allowed to do so with the exception of vessels under tow.

 

·     During these nightly restrictions, one bascule leaf will be placed in the down position.

 

·     A bridge opening can be coordinated with a 4-hour advance notice from the vessel under tow in order to safely have everyone and everything off the bascule leaf.
