Miami-Dade Commission approves Commissioner Bovo’s resolution providing COVID-19 testing to faculty

MIAMI-DADE – On September 15, 2020, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners approved Commissioner Esteban “Steve” Bovo’s resolution directing the Mayor to provide faculty and staff of all schools countywide priority access to COVID-19 testing sites similar to the access currently provided for police, fire, and other first responders. Alternatively, the County Mayor is directed to provide for an alternative means of expedited testing for faculty and staff of County schools.

“Our students, teachers, and faculty deserve to go back to the classroom knowing that they are not risking their health,” Commissioner Bovo said. “The safety and wellbeing of our educators and students is our utmost priority. It is equally important to ensure that all schools in Miami-Dade are operated safely, in order to ensure that all are protected from COVID-19. I thank my colleagues on the Board for approving my resolution that ensures COVID-19 tests are accessible for faculty and staff of all County schools, which is a critical component of ensuring the safe operation of schools reopening this fall.”
