About the Artists and Dance Performances
DJ Citizen Jane
DJ Citizen Jane is an international DJ, singer, songwriter, producer, founder of Hialeah Pride and on the board of directors for Safe Schools South Florida. As an activist for equal rights, she travels the world bringing her music to all parts of the globe with the purpose of uniting everyone through music.
Tang by Alaina Anderson was created out of a queer family collaboration that culminated during quarantine. As a queer woman, Anderson wanted to showcase the simultaneous power and tenderness of queer love through dance, regardless of the gender of the performers. Her 18-year-old brother who composed the music, as well as the two dancers that perform the piece, are all queer men. Anderson says, this piece comes from a very explorative place in terms of all our sexualities, and as a result the final product feels like a triumphant expression of our personal growth and individual queer identities.
The Queen of Drag
International dancer, choreographer, and creative director Randolph Ward, alongside Miami's only German-born Drag Artist, CC Glitzer, presents The Queen of Drag. Paying tribute to the extraordinary life of William Dorsey Swann, an American gay liberation activist born into slavery who was the first known person to lead a queer resistance group in the United States and self-identify as a “queen of drag,” this original work by Ward infuses drag, vogue, and dance theater in a performance extravaganza of strength, courage, and tenacity. The Queen of Drag was previously commissioned by Miami Urban Contemporary Experience (MUCE) Exhibition: Dispersed | MUCE Arts & Culture Festival 2020.
Patrick & The Swayzees
From surf rock to doo wop, rockabilly to beach music, Patrick & The Swayzees from Key West, FL have created a current, yet still wholly nostalgic blend of early rock ‘n’ roll sounds that bring crowds to their feet from opening to encore. Their sets include original songs and instrumentals as well as a mix of well-known, crowd favorite cover tunes, so there’s something for everyone.
